About Nathan

My mum got me into running when I was 7, and I've been an endurance athlete ever since. I started racing triathlons at 12 and competed in everything from sprint to Ironman distance across Australia, the UK, and Europe. As a runner, I still race everything from 5km to 100km on road and trail. In 2014, I left my job in Financial Markets to teach running technique full time, and transitioned into writing online coaching programmes in 2017. That passion for understanding endurance performance fuels my obsession with data-driven training and smart race strategy. I've worked with more than 300 athletes to break through their PBs and helped 15+ runners qualify for Boston. My coaching philosophy is simple: no cookie-cutter plans, just personalised, science-backed training tailored to your unique strengths and weaknesses.

My Story

How I became obsessed with power-based training

1993-1998

As a kid obsessed with getting my 5km faster, I trawled through coolrunnings.com forums late into the night, piecing together training advice from runners around the world. This curiosity to understand what works—and why—became the foundation of everything I do today.

2016

I had early running success, getting my 5km down to 16:38. But by 2016, no matter how hard I trained, my race times weren't improving. I felt like I was training the wrong way, and wondered if I was too old to achieve my goals.

2017

When Stryd released their running power meter in 2017, I discovered how to measure my efforts and personalise my training with precision. This was the breakthrough I needed.

2018

I created power-based training plans for marathon runners and saw incredible results—athletes breaking through plateaus and achieving new personal bests.

2019-2023

Over eight years of trial and error, tracking every detail of inputs and outputs, I developed the RPC Marathon Plan—a method that actually works.

Now

Now I coach runners full-time, 1-on-1. I've helped over 300 athletes break their PRs and 15+ qualify for Boston through personalised, results-oriented coaching.
